Of course the reason for buying a repossessed car is the bargain price. Undoubtedly there is more time and effort required to find and purchase a car or truck which has been repossessed. If you're ready and willing to do the extra work, you can find some bargiain vehicles being sold. Government agencies, police departments, and banks all offer repossessed cars for sale, usually at auction, during different times of the month.
Repossessed cars are sold on an "as is" basis. That means you won't be able to test drive the vehicle before purchase. What you will be able to do is to check the CarFax report. This'll tell you if the car or truck has been in an accident, stolen, flooded, among a host of other things that are good to know before actually making a purchase.
Remember, repossesed cars for sale are caveat emptor, that is 'buyer beware'. That is not necessarily a bad thing, just be aware of the vehicle history (bring a pda or laptop with wireless access so you can check the VIN numbers on the spot), and know that you may need to do some minor repairs before either reselling the repossessed car for a profit or using it for yourself.
